Glebelands School’s Year 11 Sports Leaders ran a Dodgeball Tournament for primary students in Years 5 & 6 on Thursday 28th January. Supported by the area’s School Games Organiser, Ally Reid, the tournament hosted four primary schools; Park Mead, Tillingbourne, Waverley Abbey and Chandler who brought along two teams each. The Year 11 students, who were assisting in the running of the event as part of their Level 1 Sports Leaders Award, worked hard to ensure rules were followed and players demonstrated sportsman like behaviour.

The sports hall at Glebelands was buzzing with activity as players dodged and ducked out of the way of oncoming throws, catching the ball to get their team mates back on court or deflecting it to keep themselves in. Competition was tough and as the results came in, there were only a few points between the top teams with the Chandler A and Chandler B teams competing against one other in the final. Chandler B, which consisted of Year 5 players, managed to edge into the lead with some powerful accurate throws and excellent team work to eventually over throw their Year 6 opponents and finish in 1st place.
