Baking, bubbles and basketball

Bubbling chemicals and dissections, creative showcases and sports were on show at Glebelands School as visitors from nearby primary schools sampled its teaching and activities.

Around 200 guests were invited to tour the secondary school during the open evening.

Anne Hutchinson, Headteacher, gave a speech in the main hall setting out her vision for the future of Glebelands based around the code of respect and achieve.

She described it as a happy school where individuals are valued and learning is the top priority.

Head boy Oliver and head girl Hannah spoke of how Glebelands had helped them throughout the past four years and new Year 7 students Henry and Mari, also bravely spoke to the guests.

Mrs Hutchinson said: "It was a delight to hear how much they have enjoyed their first few weeks at the school.

"All four were a credit to us, eloquently delivering their speeches with confidence."

Students led tours throughout the evening, taking in the science labs, multi-sports court and maths classrooms and visitors were invited to sample freshly-baked bread and biscuits made in the food technology department.
