Pulling power ropes in the money

Glebelands School entered into the spirit of Sport Relief with a sponsored tug of war during a Friday lunch break.

Children from all year groups were happy to put their heart and soles into it, running the Sport Relief mile, and breaking several school records along the way.

Some pupils ran the mile in a variety of novelty outfits and methods, including three-legged running, crawling and wearing wigs.

The Food Technology department cooked up some support of its own as part of the Healthy Schools programme by making cheese scones, pizza and apple muffins, among other treats.

A spokesman for the PE department said: “The event was a real success with all the students thoroughly enjoying themselves, as well as raising money for such a good cause”.

More than £1,100 was raised from the all the activities held at the school and from the sale of Sport Relief wristbands.
