Focus on fun activities

Students at Glebelands School kept smiling for their late Spring Focus Day held on Wednesday 2nd May, with the sun even managing to shine for part of the day as the students took part in a plethora of colourful activities.

Year 7 students enjoyed a Carnival Day, learning the art of samba drumming, choreographing their own dance and designing their own Venetian mask.

Other Year 7s created short films entitled Our Community, introducing the different aspects of the school. Students planned the storyboards, filmed and then edited their own movies.

Year 8 students took part in one of two visits. Some braved the weather at Cuckmere Haven on a geography field trip, learning about rock and river formations along the coast; while others went to the Science Museum in London and took part in a 4D cinema experience.

Students in Year 9 took part in an Olympic-themed engineering competition to design and build their own stadium. The students had to plan the costs of their project within a particular budget and then present their finished model to a panel of experts.

In the second part of the day, they heard from a Second World War enthusiast who shared his expertise and collections of amazing memorabilia and artefacts.

Year 10 students were on their work experience placements this week, out and about in the community, serving customers in shops and learning about different trades and businesses, while those in Year 11 were focused on exam revision.
