Cooking up cash for Comic Relief

Students at Glebelands School did 'something funny for money' on the 18th of March for Red Nose Day.

Along with members of staff, they enthusiastically entered into the spirit of the occasion, holding events over two days in order to raise as much money as possible for the cause.

On Thursday, the Year 11 boys' basketball team challenged the teaching staff to an energetic match where both sides were cheered on by spectators who had paid to watch the event. The result was a draw. On Friday students wore red and bought lots of red noses to wear around the school.

There were various activities, including the sale by Year 7 students of cupcakes they had baked, a closely fought tug-of-war competition and a Let's Dance event where students learned a dance routine to raise cash.

"The final total is still being counted, but it was a hugely successful fundraising event thanks to the efforts of students and staff," said a school spokesman.
