Glebelands School held their annual Presentation Evening on Thursday 24th November to celebrate the achievements of the Year 11 leavers.

The evening started with an address from Mrs Anne Hutchinson (Headteacher) celebrating the excellent examination results of the year group with 65% of them gaining five or more A*-C grades including English and mathematics and over a quarter of the year group achieving five or more A/A* grades.

Thanks were then given to the teachers who had supported them throughout their time at Glebelands. A special mention went to Mrs Jennifer Tompkins their Head of Achievement for the five years, who contributed her own special memories of the group with a slide show of their journey through the school.

The students were presented with their certificates by the guest of honour, Reverend Andrew Haviland.  Prizes were then awarded for service to the school and community as well as for each subject area. Donations for these came from our community sponsors who include: The Rotary Club of Cranleigh, Roger N Coupe Estate Agents, David Mann and Sons Ltd, Cranleigh Freight Services, The Cranleigh and District Lions, Oakwood Business Consultants, Dataform Chartered Press and Cranleigh Parish Council.

21 students were also awarded additional prizes for gaining eight or more A/A* grades in their GCSEs which is a fantastic achievement.

The evening ended with a collection for the school charity for 2011, Shooting Star CHASE, which supports local families with a child or teenager with a life-limiting condition.  Over £150.00 was raised and we would like to thank all parents and guests who contributed.
