On Thursday 1st December, students from every year group at Glebelands Schoolwere involved in the end of term Drama Showcase Evening.  Year 7 students performed two pieces of physical theatre work, inspired by the changing seasons, and puppetry.  Year 8 students (pictured) retold the story of Theseus and the Minotaur and Year 9 students performed their devised work entitled Sweet Dreams – the story of a teenager who experienced her first music festival.  GCSE students proudly performed the work they had rehearsed for their recent controlled assessments, inspired by John Godber’s play “Teechers”.  One group created a fantastic parody of life in school, whilst another group told a moving tale of a student’s difficulties at home and in the classroom.

Students also performed extracts from “Blood Brothers” and from their recent Theatre In Education project on Road Safety Awareness. There was also a delightful comic performance about lessons in dating.  The students were also responsible for the lighting and sound, as well as stage-managing the performance.  A thoroughly enjoyable evening was had by all.
