A poster for world peace

Students at Glebelands School in Cranleigh responded in numbers to the Lions International Peace Poster contest.

Some 180 of them came up with designs for the poster on the theme, Vision of Peace.

Students aged 11, 12 or 13 on November 15 were eligible to participate.  Members of Cranleigh Lions visited the school to present the winners of the local competition with their prizes.

"This contest encourages young people worldwide to artistically express their visions of peace," said Cranleigh Lions' secretary, Paul Withers.

The winning painting was entitled "The Rainbow Dove of Peace Opens the Eyes of the World" and will go forward to the Lions' South East district contest to be judged against winning entries from other schools across Surrey, Sussex and Kent.
