Students at Glebelands School were fundraising for Children in Need on Friday 13th November. The students were busy all week fundraising for their three charities Children in Need, Save the Children and Surrey, Sussex and Kent Air Ambulance. The events were organised by the students of Year 8 who did a superb job of raising money and publicising the event throughout the school.
Friday the 13th of November started off with Rhoan Hepburn, Head of Achievement for Year 8 being dressed as a Disney Princess alongside Karen Martin a Year 8 tutor as his Prince Charming, outfits they both wore all day. This was part of 8KRM’s fundraising as they vowed to collect £50 before Friday to ensure the dress up happened, and indeed it did. KRM also hosted a movie and popcorn event during lunchtime which saw their fundraising total surpass the £60 mark. Students then arrived in mufti and also a good variety of Superhero and Supervillain costumes. The day was full of fun with students and staff generously donating pennies and pounds throughout the day. Students took part in a variety of activities throughout the day. 8HEC hosted a cake sale at break time which sold out in record time raising £69 in 15 minutes, 8NJC hosted a Nerf Challenge in the gym at lunch time, alongside their Guess the Sweets in the Jar competition which saw them raise over £30 for the excellent causes of the day. 8EFC hosted a range of activities on the other side of the school, which included a Beat the Keeper and a Beat the Clock basketball activity. They also hosted the Sponge the Teacher activity which was the finale of the day’s events out in the playground. Special thanks to Miss Clayton, Mr Kett, Mr Milligan and Miss Chilcott for taking part on such a cold day.
A total of £819.36 was raised during a brilliant week of fundraising which will be split between Children in Need, Save the Children and Surrey, Sussex and Kent Air Ambulance.
