On Monday 8th June, Year 9 students from Glebelands School were asked to work in teams of two and given the brief ‘Wimbledon: A British inspired, three course menu for the royals attending’. After much deliberation over the fantastic entries, the Design & Technology Department chose seven teams to take part in MasterChef on Monday 8th June. Students had to produce their own British inspired, three course menus for the royals attending the tournament. The menus served ranged from caramelised onion tarts, pea and mint soup, handmade bread, cloud cake and Queen of all puddings, to name just a few. This year our judges were Richard Graham (One Forty, Cranleigh); Adrian Erricker (School Governor) and Bev Lock (Caterlink Area Manager).
The quality of food was outstanding and the judges had a hard time choosing the winners. In third place were Sophie and Mia, in second place were Luke and Ciaran and the overall winning team were Grace and Anna. The girls cooked three courses consisting of asparagus wrapped in parma ham with lemon mayonnaise; quiche lorraine served with new potatoes and seasonal vegetables and finally, strawberries and cream cheesecake with non-alcoholic Pimms. Well done to all participants and the winning team for their delicious winning menu.
